Since we have so many people from different cultures who speak different languages, I want to know how to you say PEACE and how to you say "I LOVE YOU" in your language.
Here is my take: Greek - IRINI (peace), S' AGAPO (I love you). Dutch - FREDE (peace), IK HOU VAN JOU (I love you), Hebrew - SHALOM (peace), ANI OHEVET OTCHA (I love you). Star

Love in German: Liebe. And peace, Frieden. But I think peace sounds way better.

in afrikaans .. peace, vrede, i love you, well ... actually, there is more than one way to say it, dependent on how you mean it. you can say, as in duch, Ek hou van jou, which means more .. I like you, or you can say, ek is lief vir jou, which does mean I love you but not in the deepest sense, more like, love ya, if that makes sense. if you wanted to say i love you as to a partner, special person in your life .. you would say, Ek het jou lief.

Lol, Sugarbaby, that sounds similar to "ich hab dich lieb" in German!! But to really say I love you to a partner: "Ich liebe dich".

Actually, Love4All, peace in Spanish is paz. Hope you don't mind, just that's actually the correct way to spell it. *smiles*

Well Danish, with correct spelling is "jeg elsker dig" and I think peace is "fred", Icelandic is very similar "eg elska thig" and "fridur" (after all we were practically a Danish colony for 800 years and the languages are very related).
Finnish it is "mina rakkastan sinua" <grin> and I have no idea what the word for peace is but I know "sina olet koira" means "you are a dog" <grin>

Well if you really say I love you to a family member or a friend in German then you say "ich lieb' dich" or "ich hab' dich lieb", so I think "ich liebe dich" is more romantic, too.

Unfortunately I can't add to the list as I am linguistically deprived, I speak only English. But this is such a great idea, thanks Star for starting it.
